Events
Where tap dancers come together.
Taplife Hero Foundation creates live experiences that bring dancers, teachers, and communities together through education, performance, and a shared love of tap dance. Explore our signature events and find your next opportunity to connect, learn, and celebrate.
LIT TAP DANCE EXPERIENCE
LIT is a focused, one-day tap dance experience designed to bring dancers together for high-quality training in an intimate setting.
Unlike larger group dance events, LIT keeps the experience personal and centered on the dancing. Classes take place on a professional sprung wood floor with experienced faculty and an atmosphere that encourages dancers to learn, challenge themselves, and connect with the art form.
LIT is designed for dancers and dance teachers who want more than just another class. It’s an opportunity to train, explore musicality and technique, and be surrounded by others in the tap community.
Dancers will also have the opportunity to perform in the LIT Talent Showcase. Bring your choreography and perform in a supportive environment.
Multiple cities. Limited space. One day dedicated to tap dance.
Registration is now open for the 2026–2027 season.
This year, LIT is introducing Priority Registration for dancers and teachers who commit early to an event, giving them access to the most affordable rate offered for the season.
NATIONAL TAP DANCE DAY
For ten years, Taplife Hero Foundation has celebrated National Tap Dance Day by bringing dancers, teachers, artists, and the community together through free classes, performances, tap jams, special guests, and the shared celebration of tap dance.
For our 10th Anniversary celebration, we were proud to honor the Rockettes of Color Alumnae for their contributions to the tap dance community and their work as Champions of Tap Dance.
We remain proud of a decade of celebrating and preserving this American art form, and of everyone who has danced, performed, taught, volunteered, sponsored, and celebrated with us along the way.
Plans for National Tap Dance Day 2027 are currently in development and will be announced as they are determined.
WAYS TO PERFORM
Professional artists & companies: curated performers are offered a stipend to perform live at the show.
Community performers: join the live show for $50 per dancer per piece (duos, trios, groups) or $75 per solo. The closing finale is free and open to all participants — no fee required.
PARTICIPATE FROM ANYWHERE
Learn our signature piece, "Lucky to Be Alive" (original song by Frank Persico), through our free tap tutorial series — three skill levels, taught on video. Use it freely as an anchor to your own event or to present a flash mob in your own community, anywhere in the world. Be sure to post your videos and photos to join the online celebration. #taplifehero #tapdance #nationaltapdancedaycelebration
